Driving to school this morning, I’m chatting to my two boys about the fact that I will be away this weekend, as I’m going to Sydney to facilitate my Inner Circle Quarterly Retreat.
But not only will I be in Sydney, I will be in Bondi !!!
And, as fate would have it, my 11-year old loves watching ‘Bondi Rescue’ on TV and, as fate would have it, the program was on only last night.
So as soon as he hears that I will be in Bondi – and within walking distance of Bondi Beach (yoo hooo!!!) – he immediately starts giving me instructions….
I am to go to the Lifeguard Tower and ask for a ‘recording’ with them. He clarifies that this is a video followed by a photo – and I am to sing their praises on his behalf!
As I reflect on this, the only word that keeps on popping into my mind is ‘groupie’ and I’m thinking ‘nope, not happening’.
So I respond with….’I’m not really comfortable doing that, lovely’.
To which he replies….
‘Well, you will just have to step out of your comfort zone, mum’.
BOOM !!!
I could not help but chuckle and feel proud of my boy. He has obviously been paying attention to what his mum ‘preaches’ in her Facebook life streams.
And then it hits me…
Even I still struggle to step outside of my comfort zone from time to time.
Reason being, that comfortable is just soooo COMFORTABLE…..
…… which is why it is so important to have someone (even if it is your 11-year old) keeping you accountable when you are getting too comfortable.
Whilst reflecting on my child’s little gold nugget, my minds reminds me that this has been a major contributing factor as to why I changed my ‘How to START your very own ULTIMATE Private Practice’ workshop from a one-day event to an online program. Usually, people would attend the in-person workshop – getting all the content crammed into one day – and then… nothing.
They are left to their own devices for actually implementing, which is both the most IMPORTANT but also the SCARIEST part of starting a private practice. And very often, during implementation, questions pop up that needs to be answered, or else they just become excuses for NOT implementing.
And let’s just face it….. Starting your very own private practice, where all the RESPONSILBITY falls on YOU is pretty scary.
Take it from me, private practice is NOT as easy as many group private practice owners make it look – if it was, I would not have had this flourishing business called Private Practice Success☺
With the ‘How to START your very own ULTIMATE Private Practice’ now being on-line – and running over 7 weeks – I get to offer more ACCOUNTABILITY, more SUPPORT and hence a greater likelihood of ensuring that my attendees not only take in the content, but also ACTIONS what they will be learning, all whilst having 24/7 support (in our Closed Facebook Group) from others whom have also decided to be brave and make the leap towards pursuing their private practice dream.
Here’s to levelling up, being called out (even IF it is your 11-year old) and rising to the challenge☺
Yours in Private Practice Success,
