I know what you’re thinking.
It sounds too good to be true.
Like those get rich quick schemes that entice you to join, with the lure of passive income which only seem to work for other people but never for you.
But believe me, it’s true.
I literally DOUBLED my annual turnover in my ‘Private Practice Success’ business in the last financial year compared to the previous financial year. Something I thought was NOT possible, as I didn’t feel like I was working any harder or longer for that matter.
Of course, once I saw the numbers in black and white, I was naturally curious about determining the what and how of this amazing phenomenon, as obviously I would love to not only repeat it but step it up even another level.
So I carefully analysed what I did differently over the 12 months in question and found 3 pertinent DECISIONS that I made that changed everything in my business…..
ONE… I joined a high-level Mastermind Group.
When I originally enquired about joining this Mastermind Group, I was quoted a monthly membership fee of $3,000.00 per month, whilst being expected to make a 12-month commitment. I said yes, I want in, but I’ll start at the beginning of the new financial year, which was about 2 months off.
Fast forward the 2 months and I message the person running the group that I’m ready to join. At this time, I’m told that it is now $4,000.00 per month, with a 12-month commitment. My first thought was…
‘ f&$k, that’s an extra $12,000.00 per year more than I originally thought! ’
Now on a side note…
Even though I was anticipating to pay $3,000.00 per month, at this point I still had no clue where I was going to get it.
I just knew that somehow I would.
So I had a decision to make and I made it based NOT on whether I had the money, but rather on self-awareness, trust and faith….
I KNOW that unless I get uncomfortable, nothing would change for me.
I was in a pretty comfortable place.
But why settle for comfortable.
Settling would mean that I would be in exactly the same place in 12 months’ time…
And that is simply not acceptable.
I THRIVE on growth.
I THRIVE on contribution.
I THRIVE on achievement.
I’m just not the type of person to be satisfied by the same old same old.
Live is just too short to not go to the next level, right?
So I said ‘hell yes, I’m in’….
… whilst just shitting my pants a little 😉
Then the day come for the first payment to come out of my bank account.
It cleared!!!
But it cleared not $4,000.00 but around $5,500.00…???
Of course I’m thinking WTF…?!
It turns out, the investment is charged in USD and not AUD!!!
That made this a $66,000.00 AUD investment for the 12 month period – O.M.G.
What to do….?
Do I pull out right now using the excuse that I thought it was AUD and hence don’t have the money?
Or, do I push ahead and do this….?
I had already DECIDED to DO the program.
I had already DECIDED that this is the mentor and program for me
Was I going to allow money to get in the way?
And in addition….
It would literally have kill me if I had to message my new mentor to say that I can’t make the payments and that I want to pull out.
To me, that would mean failure, even before I had begun… and yes, I know all the blah blah blah about it not being failure, it’s only a learning blah blah blah, but I don’t apply that to myself.
Don’t get me wrong, I have failed – often, but I never plan to fail.
I am a ‘there-is-no-plan-B’ kinda person.
Not saying it’s the right or wrong way to be, it is just me, and Iuckily I know me very well.
So I stayed in the program.
Knowing I had made this financial commitment into me and my business meant that I HAD TO STEP UP. But I wasn’t going to work longer hours. I was going to work smarter, cue the second thing I did…
TWO… Six months into having made the above commitment, I hired my first Personal Assistant.
Yes, I had just invested an extra $5,500.00 AUS per month and NOW I was adding a wage payment to this as well…
Sounds crazy, right…!?
Actually, it’s NOT crazy at all.
It was the LOGICAL thing to do.
It was the PRACTICAL thing to do.
And it turned out to have been one of the best business decisions I’ve ever made….
To VALUE ME enough to get support.
To be OK with saying YES to me by hiring a Personal Assistant.
I was not prepared to sacrifice time with my kids as I go to the next level.
I was not prepared to sacrifice my exercise time to get to the next level.
I was not prepared to sacrifice my sleep to get to the next level.
I was not prepared to sacrifice my mental health to get to then next level.
What I was prepared to do is….
INVEST money into me by having a mentor and support group of other high-level business professionals (mostly females) that consistently inspires me to step up, to own whom I am, and be ok with it.
INVEST money into me by having a Personal Assistant that could take over the administrative side of my business, allowing me to focus on my genius zone and do more of the work that lights me up – and when you do THAT work it is easy to make sales into your business, because it comes from passion, from soul, from wanting to help and make a difference.
I think – no, I KNOW, because I see this every day – one of the BIGGEST mistakes made by practice owners are not wanting to INVEST in them and their practice (well, not where it matters anyway).
And the bottom line is….
Scaling, growing, expanding your practice will REQUIRE you to invest not only money into clinical training or into the practice but into YOU – as your MINDSET, knowledge and skills around running and development a business – which is your private practice – is what will ultimately determine the success of the practice.
THREE….. I DECIDED to show the f&%k up and do so with TRUST in me and what I am here to do…
Yes, that meant dropping that last bit of perfectionism that still rears its ugly, shitty, annoying, procrastinating and anxiety-ridden little head every now and then.
It meant TRUSTING in me, my knowledge, my skills, my experience, my competencies WITHOUT – that’s right, WITHOUT – having to question it even once… because I now trusted.
I trusted and then I showed up.
In being me.
In doing my mindset work.
In doing my physical exercise.
In doing my messaging.
In doing my selling.
By being in flow.
By DOING things my way, the way I want to, the way that works for me and not giving a damn what others think.
By proudly and passionately sharing my programs and trainings so that those whom need it has the opportunity to say YES to their own growth and development….and so they did.
And guess what lovely…?
So can you!
Yours in Private Practice Success,
