If you are over my ‘running lessons’ then stop reading now as this is another one of those.
On a side note, this morning run thing is an activity that keeps on giving, but let’s get into this morning’s lesson.
Today, it is a lesson that I should have learnt by now and it goes like this:
“If you are going to choose to have chips and dip for dinner, then you will know about it during your morning run. Food = Fuel. Chips & Dip = Legs as heavy as lead. Period.”
So it got me thinking…..
What lessons am I continuing to CHOOSE to learn in other parts of my life, whether that be personal, family or business.
Lesson such as…
If the 6-year old spends more than an hour continuously on the iPad there will be a huge tantrum on the end of it.
If I don’t book in my monthly massage with the fabulous Robyn that my headaches will come back.
If I don’t PLAN for the week ahead both at home and at work, then overwhelm becomes my shadow.
So ask yourself this:
What lessons are YOU continuing to CHOOSE to learn (maybe even over and over again) despite its emotional and financial consequences within your practice and life….?
Are you possibly CHOOSING to…
❓ Continue learning that if you avoid looking at the numbers in your practice you will find yourself scouring for money to pay the bills.
❓ Continue learning that if you engage subcontractors at exorbitant rates, that you will need to pay into the business to cover the bills and have nothing left to cover your wage.
❓ Continue learning that marketing is actually not the devil and that communicating to others how you can help is empowering, fun and leads to clients in your dairy.
❓ Continue learning that unless you outsource or expand you will be in this exact same spot in 12 months’ time.
❓ Continue learning that you need to prioritise investing in you – not as a clinician – but as a business owner.
Once you have answered YES to any of these or other possibilities, I strongly suggest you look at WHY you are making this CHOICE.
Is this choice keeping you ‘safe’ in that no-one will comment/judge you on your change in behaviour and thinking?
Is this choice keeping you ‘safe’ as it is something you know, something familiar, rather than something new and uncertain.
Is this choice keeping you ‘safe’ because it is all you know, it’s what you’ve always done.
I don’t know what the answer is for you – only you know. So take some time today and journal on these questions and start CHOOSING which lessons you will continue to learn or not.
Yours in Private Practice Success,
