Are You A Shiny Object Syndrome Sufferer?

Are you a ๐—ฆ๐—›๐—œ๐—ก๐—ฌ ๐—ข๐—•๐—๐—˜๐—–๐—ง ๐—ฆ๐—ฌ๐—ก๐——๐—ฅ๐—ข๐— ๐—˜ sufferer…?

Comment ‘Me’ below if you just answered yes to this question in your mind… I know I sure did

Not only am I a Shiny Object Syndrome Suffer, but I find myself surrounded by some amazing people who also suffer from this, which is the perfect storm for….

– distraction

– task incompletion

– avoidance (due to overwhelm)

– procrastination (due to overwhelm)

– deviation from mission

โ€ฆ.not to mention that feeling of ‘the dropping of every ball’ you are trying so very hard to juggle.ย

Cue:

– guilt

– sense of failure

– and self judgement

Now, Shiny Object Syndrome can be a beautiful thing. I never ever want to squash the brilliance of ideas that the inner part of me can present to me on a similarly shiny platter….

But what I’ve come to learn is that timing is EVERY THING.

TIMING of course is decided by your PRIORITIES, which in turn need to be in line with your overall Vision, your overall Mission, your 12 month Goals and then your 6-Week Projects.ย

The best way to PRIORITISE these is to consider:

– impact

– easy of implementation

– time required to implement

Whilst being realistic in your determination of these.ย

You should never be busy just for the sake of being busy.ย

You should always consider the IMPACT that thing on your to do list will have on moving the needle of progress on your business.

Very often we just stick to doing things for the sake of doing, because it is easy, it’s what we know, it is what is comfortable, but in turn that is also what keeps you stuck.ย

The only way to get UNSTUCK is to go through a structured process of planning during which you consider all the above.ย

I believe so much in this that I do this with my private practice Management Team and fellow Co-Founders of Halo Practice Management every quarter. In turn, they do this with our in-house leadership teams.

This is also the VERY FIRST thing I do with new members of the Private Practice Success Academy.ย

We do 2 different in-depth assessments of where their practice is at, following which I facilitate them through a process of achieving clarity on what will truly impact their practice growth. Not once off, short-term growth, but long-term compounding growth.ย

So my message to you today is this:

  • Do not demonise your Shiny Object Syndrome, instead make it work for you. Choose the best of the best ideas, but the ones that YOUR practice needs RIGHT NOW, considering the stage of Private Practice Development YOUR practice is at.ย
  • Make prioritisation your friend, but do it right and ensure it’s not motivated by the fear of getting uncomfortable.

And lasts but not least….

  • Install accountability and support into your process. It is one thing doing this, but it is quite another to STICK TO IT.

If you prefer not to do this alone, but would like my help with ALL the above, but also with the accountability and on-going support part, then I do invite you to consider joining the Private Practice Success Academy which has specifically been designed to offer you this support.ย

To see if the Academy will be a good fit for you, just DM me here on Facebook at: http://m.me/PrivatePracticeSuccessย

Here’s to helping you build a practice you can’t stop smiling about,ย

Gerda

xoxo

Yours in Private Practice Success,

Gerdaย
